November 11th. 1949

First Meeting of the JTC Company, 1840, at St. Hugh's. 5 lads attended.

March 12th. 1950

Company Enrolled with 18 members.

January 5th 1951

Birth of the new Church Hall.

October 1951

Silver Band given by Lord Quibell
Mr E. Burke joins as Bandmaster.

April 21st 1952

Company colours presented by the Parents Association

December 1955

Average attendance is 110
New company started at Spalding.
2nd. Lt John Peddle retires

October 1956

At a special parade service the Assistant General Secretary of the Brigade, Col. E. Weekes, accepted a gift of colours for the Barbados company. They were taken to London and then, with the General Secretary the Revd. John Burton, taken to Barbados where they presented and placed in the Cathedral. The colours, a gift from St. Hugh's, were paid for by the members from their pocket money.

November 7th 1956

C.L.B. of Grimsby and Scunthorpe form a guard of honour for the enthronement of the new Bishop of Lincoln - the Rt. Revd. Kenneth Riches.

July 1958

Royal Review - 152 members from St. Hugh's travelled by train to London, for the Lambeth Review.

January 1960

Lt. Cmd. and Mrs G.W.Wells and Sir Richard and Lady Goddard visit the pantomime - Cinderella.

April 11th. 1961

A Silver drum is presented to the company in memory of Mr E.Burke by Mr S. Lord. Mr Burke, who was the first bandmaster, attended his last parade on the 10th. Birthday when the preacher was Col. the Revd. C.W.Tabor and the chief guest was Col. E. Weeks the Assistant General Secretary. Colours were presented to the Barbados Company. These had been paid for by the members from their pocket money. Col. Weekes took them to be placed in Barbados Cathedral.

May 1961

Sgt. Major R. Radford, one of the first members of the Company receives his 10 year long service medal.

1963

February 1964

Mr George Barlow - Treasurer - retires after 9 years.
Mr Bill Parsonage is appointed Treasurer.

July 11th. 1964

Sheffield Rally. Sports and games, erecting tents. The band played for the march past and Col. Tabor was presented with the Meritorious Medal.

1964

Parents organised fundraising events in their homes to enable all members to visit France whilst at the annual camp.

May 1966

Roy Batho is promoted to an Officer.

December 17th 1966 - 
January 3rd 1967

The C.L.B. Pilgrimage to the Holy Land, attended by Christopher Hopkinson, Richard Hall, Bruce Dewson and Colin Artist, to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the formation of the Church Lads' Brigade.

April 1967

Captain W. H. Walker resigns as OC. to move south to Taunton.

June 1967

 

Due to health reasons Lt. E. V. Hodgkin is prevented from accepting the position of Officer in Command - Lt. Roy Batho appointed acting Officer in Command.

July 1967

Roy Batho appointed Officer in Command.

February 1968

 

Alan Theaker is appointed 2nd. Lt. after some eight years as a helper with the band.
Dedication of the Drum-Majors Mace to commemorate the pilgrimage to the Holy Land.

April 7th. 1968

18th Birthday
Mr R. H. Wattam retires as correspondent.

July 7th 1968

Service & Parade to commemorate the Re-dedication of Coventry Cathedral.

October 15th. 1968

Ian Walker & Richard Hall promoted to 2nd. Lt.

March 1969

Silver Band Instruments sold for £110.00

July 27th 1969

The C.L.B. Hut caught on fire at 10p.m. and all camp equipment was lost. Prompt action by a passer by helped avoid any serious damage to the Church Halls.

October 5th 1969

Taunton Company Enrolled.

2/Lt. Ian Walker takes over as Officer in Command

January 1970

Mr Sam Lord retires as Pantomime Producer after 20 years.

20th Anniversary
Father Donald Wheat - Preacher
Col. T.P. Lloyd and the Mayor were Chief Guests.

January 1971

The last pantomime, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, produced by Mr Rex Kiddle.

May 3rd. 1971

The P.C.C. granted permission to Mrs Mavis Bibby to open a C.G.B. Company.

Mrs Mavis Bibby retires as OC. of the C.G.B. The two St. Hugh's groups are amalgamated under the command of Captain Ian Walker. Mrs Duane Tow joins the company to look after the girls section.

November 20th 1979

The first joint CLB & CGB Open Night. The Inspecting Officer was Mr Roy Marvin from Sheffield.

September 1979

David Atkinson retires as Bandmaster
Allan Spencer appointed Bandmaster.

July 1980

Royal Review - Windsor.

July 22nd 1981

Royal Tournament, London. - St. Hugh's Band takes part.

May 1983

St. Hugh's band - Runners up in the National Band Competition.

April 30th 1987

Company buys a 53 seater coach.

December 13th 1987

New company colours presented by the Brigade Association.

January 1st 1989

Mr W. Parsonage retires as Treasurer.
Richard Hall appointed Treasurer.

August 31st 1990

July 10th 1991

A minor corps section is started, known as THE IMPS.

June 16th. 1991

Lincoln Battalion celebrate the Centenary of the Brigade with a Service in Lincoln Cathedral. Due to bad weather the massed bands of Scunthorpe and Beverley play inside the Cathedral after the service.

December 1991

David Atkinson retires after 36 years.

February 1992

The first "Great Escape" weekend is held.

May 1992

The seniors win the 13-16 age group area 5 a side football final at Durham.

May 1993

The Company Coach is sold.

March 1993

Paul Horsewood wins the National Cross Country Competition (over 16)

July 1994

Visit to Newfoundland by John Mitchell, Mark Weighell and Andrew Karlsberg.

April 1995

Company Mini Bus is purchased.

July 1995

Death of Eric Hodkin, one of the first Officers of the Company.

Tim Hayday appointed Bandmaster

March 1996

The 23rd Pantomime, Cinderella is performed after a break of 25 years.

December 31st 1996

Tim Hayday resigns as Bandmaster.

November 4th 1996

Girls World is started.

March 1997

The 24th Pantomime - Aladdin.

May 11th 1997

The Cabin is opened by the Rt Revd. Robert Hardy, Bishop of Lincoln. Wing Commander Stewart Cresswell, General Secretary of the Brigade attended the ceremony. The company's 47th Birthday.

November 26th 1997

The Brigade equipment store is completed.

July 5th 1998

First Martins (Imps) Day Camp.

September 10th 1998

The IMPS are renamed the MARTINS

November 17th 1998

Annual Inspection - Mrs Jean Ellerton JP, the first lady Inspecting Officer. Caroline Ridgway appointed Bandmaster

August 1999

St. Hugh's 50th Camp, held at Sheringham, Norfolk.

September 1999

St. Hugh's host the National AGM of the Brigade Association - for the third time.

November 1999

Nostalgia, Fun & the Future - a concert of humour and songs from the War Years.

January 2000

"Girls World" start a new section for Senior Girls.
